A guitar-shaped, baroque double bass. Mahogany back and sides. Front suggested to be Lombardy pine. May have been made on either the Italian or Iberian peninsula. Almost certainly 18th century (not earlier). The back has signs it was originally a processional instrument. String length 98cm. Head carved by Roger Dawson. New neck by Malcolm Healey. Currently tuned G-A-D-a (+ thicker string for low F tuning). Comes with custom made Stevenson flight case (for checking in just under 32kg).
